Drawing 120, First Assignment

Up in your Face
Approx. 2.5 hours, pencil, no hand ref.
Our first assignment in drawing 120! "Take a cliche image or phrase and subvert it. USe pencil on a 23x35 sheet." I'm not used to using pencil on such big paper, but I liked that the assignment was open, so I could use my own drawing style. "Those dudes was gettin' all up in my face, ya heard?" So, I put dudes in his face.

Makes sense!

Picasso Self Portrait
Approx. I don't even know, maybe 20 hours?

The task was to replicate a painting by a famous artist, and then include a self portrait of ourself in the replication, and add some element to make it modern (She is reading Twilight... typical). Most people in the class did 2 straight on face shots side by side... but that's not my style. So I chose Woman With a Book by Picasso, and gave myself 6 fingers and other fun disfigurements! It took forever because of this texture technique I decided to make up for some reason, as seen in the closeup.

DaVinci Style Attempt

DaVinci Self Portrait
Approx. 3 hours
The assignment was to draw yourself in a style such as DaVinci's. Meh.... I also drew photorealistic coloured fingers, just because I'm pro.

Modern Art!

Shut Up! It's Totally Art!
Approx. 15 minutes. Medium: Tripod...
If you look around ACAD, every day you will probably see something new. Me and my friends are always questioning whether it's supposed to be art or not. 30+ Ice Cream cones scattered along the hallway. Torn up rubber from a tire left around by the wall. Mini chairs with mini crowns sitting in the middle of the Mall. A... wrench on a pedestal... hair... coming out of... a hand... sanitizer... Anyways! So Adam accidentally broke his tripod, so instead of throwing it out, me and Lauren decided to bend it up and leave in on the floor in the hall and see if it's thrown out or mistaken as art. So far nobody has touched it, and I've even seen a few people talking about it. Haaa!
